We all have quirks and compulsions, which subtly reflect who we are and how we live our lives. This film frames these behaviours through a meditative and observational lens, granting us access into the unseen, daily moments of those who aren’t simply passionate but utterly possessed.
Almost every hour in Canada, a young adult is diagnosed with cancer. They have unique needs – practical, physical and psychosocial – that are unmet by today’s cancer system. The Canadian Cancer Society asked us to make a film about Tina Schomburg, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at age 21, as part of a fundraising campaign centred on young adults.

Through an observational and distinctly unconventional lense, “Air” studies the emotional resonance of significant instances of human connection when subtracting actual physical contact. By examining these seemingly odd gestures, we reframe this adaptability and craft an anthem that artfully pays tribute to the human spirit and its resilience, celebrating its idiosyncratic poetry with visual curiosity in a modern cinematic language.
